Dried fruit is used in fevers to allay thirst as refrigerant and laxative. The volatile oil of bitter almond or its preparations should be used with care as a flavouring agent because of e as a flavouring agent because of hydrocyanic acid. It is also used in aromatherapy.
There are two varieties of almond (i) bitter and (ii) sweet. Seeds of sweet variety is widely used as dry-fruit. Tincture of Prunus amygdalus is used in Homeopathy. Oil of bitter variety is used in skin disorders.
