Bharangi, Bhargi, Bhrugubhava, Padma, Brahmini (Botanical Name – Clerodendrum serratum, family – Verbenaceae) is an important medicinal plant growing in the tropical and warm temperate regions like Africa, Southern Asia, Malaysia and distributed throughout in forests of India and Sri Lanka. Bharangi is a small shrub, 2-4meter tall bearing opposite leaves and having woody rootstock. The plant is distributed over scrub forests throughout the tropical and subtropical parts up to 1500 m particularly in Bengal, Odisha and peninsular India.
